Spring Reflections

To our WFO Community,

Spring fills us with a sense of renewal, rebirth, and growth. The world around us becomes green again, the sun peaks its head out more often, and the days grow longer.  It is this Spring energy that we embraced all through April at Women’s Foundation of Oregon. We had a busy month that helped us to grow our perspectives and meet new people energized in the fight for justice.  The new people, the new events, the new ideas were all part of our continued growth last month.

On April 6th, WFO was honored to sponsor Rural Organizing Project’s 33rd annual Rural Caucus and Strategy Session. We connected with incredible folks who are working all over our state to bring justice to their communities. Powerful stories, ideas, and resources were shared, relationships were forged, and the hard and important work done throughout the year was celebrated and recognized throughout the event. We at WFO recognize the work being done in our rural communities and have made a commitment to supporting folks throughout the state to bring justice and hope to their communities.

The Boys Are Not Alright Panelists

Additionally, WFO was honored to support Cleveland High School in organizing their “The Boys Are Not Alright: Building a Culture of Healthy Masculinity” event on April 25th.

A huge thank you to folks who were able to attend the event. The feedback we received from attendees was positive and invigorating. We acknowledge that sexism and toxic masculinity causes real and enduring societal harm that negatively affects all of us and we must bring light to the issue if we ever hope to move forward. WFO is extremely grateful for the staff and students at CHS who created the event.

We hope to support additional events that tackle tough issues in the future. For further information about this important topic and the event, please click here.  Stay tuned for more updates about our work.
