Your voice matters. Build what comes next with your vote!
Greetings WFO Community,
For the past few months, our community has been working to build The Abundance for All Framework. Through this work, we are proud to share a tool to advance our collective dreams and policy goals.
The Abundance for All Lens is a tool to help you make informed, values-aligned decisions when voting. This is not about telling you who to vote for. This is about giving you a way to evaluate whether candidates and measures align with the future our communities have dreamed of and the world that you want to see (watch the video here.)
THERE ARE FOUR STEPS TO UTILIZE THIS TOOL
Step 1: Ground yourself in the six pillars of Abundance for All
The pillars are a collection of dreams from our community. At the Women's Foundation of Oregon, we believe Dreaming is Data. The dreams of our community have shaped and determined our Abundance for All lens and the pillars below.
Safety as a Public Good
Care-Centered Economic Systems
Rest, Restoration and Abundance
Equity, Self-Determination and Justice
Community Over Competition
Opportunity, Creativity and Purpose
Before you review candidates or ballot measures, ask:
Which pillar is most important for me?
How would I like these pillars to be represented by candidates?
How do the pillars reflect the kind of world we are trying to build?
Step 2: Candidate or Measure Review Applying the Abundance for All Lens
Centering the pillars, review the candidates or measures public information. Our website has tools and resources to support the review. The review should include examining:
1. Candidate / Ballot Website
2. Voting Record
3. Endorsements
4. Campaign Finance Reports
Step 3: Apply the Abundance for All Lens to the Review
Take the information you have gathered from the review and work through each pillar, asking questions that include:
Does this candidate or measure move us closer to this pillar’s vision?
Where do I see alignment?
Where do I see gaps?
Remember, there is no “perfect” candidate. This process is about alignment, not perfection.
Step 4: Make Your Decision and Vote!
Based on research and a deliberate process, use what you’ve learned to make a choice that reflects:
Your values
Your community’s needs
Our shared dream/vision of abundance
A Final Reminder
We hope that this tool will support individual engagement, while advancing collective dreams. To us, it is important to reaffirm that the Abundance for All Framework is rooted in the belief that:
Policy should reflect our collective dreams
Communities deserve transparency and clarity
Voting is one way we shape the future together
We want to thank everyone who has been a part of this process and we are looking forward to continuing to make space for our dreams as we work together for justice.
Rest. Dream. Justice.
